Selank is a synthetic seven-residue peptide designed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics of the Russian Academy of Sciences by attaching the proline-glycine-proline tripeptide to the immune peptide tuftsin, which slows enzymatic breakdown. It is registered in Russia as Selank 0.15% nasal drops, an over-the-counter anxiolytic under registration number LRS-003338/09, and is classified there as a tranquilliser rather than a supplement. Human evidence is limited to a small number of Russian-language trials in anxiety, phobic and somatoform disorders, mostly comparing it with benzodiazepines in groups of 60 to 70 patients; it has no FDA or EMA approval and is sold elsewhere as a research chemical.
